Hospital San Javier provides optimal quality and effective transfusion medical services. The hospital has its own blood bank for your convenience.

Should you need any blood transfusion, you must bring a donor for each blood derivative requested. This vital fluid, such as blood, may be voluntarily donated by a family member or friend.

Basic requirements:

• Suitable donor (excellent health condition).
• 5-hour fast.
• Pass medical test.
• Pass prior laboratory indicators.
• Regardless of results, the physician will decide whether or not donor is suitable for donation.

• All units are leukoreduced (transfusion reactions are reduced).
• Apheresis procedures (platelet-apheresis and plasma-apheresis).

Refreshment (fluids and solids) is provided after the donation. In addition, general instructions are given to donor for recovery (no exercise, drink plenty of fluids, no alcohol, among others).
