Doubts about ...

ADMISSION AND DISCHARGE

What is the purpose of the Services Agreement?

This is a document containing an unconditional promise from the subscriber to the service provider whereby both parties are committed to receive and to pay for a service. This is with the purpose of guaranteeing medical care at all times, by facilitating and speeding up the medical procedures requiring a quick action due to their nature. This is a legal document used to protect rights and obligations of both the patient and the hospital.

What is a patient’s discharge protocol?

From the time the treating physician signs the discharge form, your bill will be ready within an hour, except in the case of company patients, insured patients, and where any procedure related with the insurance company may take up to 2 and 2:30 hours.

When your bill is ready, the cash office will contact you to pay it (if you are an insured patient, company patient or bank patient, we suggest that you check your authorization at the insurance office dial extension 1730, 1731, 1733).

The room must be vacated at 12:00 hours; otherwise, there will be an extra charge of 100% on the cost thereof.

VISITS

What are the visiting hours?

Visits may be done between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m.; only 2 persons per room are allowed, but they may be restricted in accordance with a patient’s medical condition or with the Institution’s provisions.

Visit hours at the Intensive Therapy and Coronary Therapy are from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. and then from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Visit hours at the Neonatal Therapy Unit are from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and then from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

INSURANCE COMPANIES

What does a patient with a health insurance need to be admitted by Hospital San Javier?

  • The insurance company must have signed an agreement with Hospital San Javier (List of insurance companies at the Patients’ section).
  • Policy.
  • Scheduled Procedure.
  • If the procedure or surgery to be performed may be scheduled, the policy claim may be done in advance to find out whether the procedure is covered or not and under what conditions.
  • To do this, in most of cases, the following information must be submitted to the insurance company:
    • A copy of a valid official ID, passport (in the event of foreign patients).
  • Valid evidence of the insurance company or, in any case, the insurance policy if you have major medical expenses insurance.
  • In the event the treatment may be scheduled and you have medical expenses insurance, you may request the insurance policy claim and, in any case, submit a direct payment authorization letter issued by the insurance company.
  • If the patient is the holder of a major medical expenses insurance policy and is only assisted at the emergency, laboratory or imaging areas, the policy claim is to be paid by reimbursement, i.e., the total account must be paid and the insurance company will pay the patient any amount disbursed; provided, however, that the specific conditions in the policy so permit. (It is necessary that the patient checks the co-insurance and deductible conditions in the policy.)
